For the last year, I’ve been off-and-on obsessed with the band Everything Everything. Their music tickles my brain in just the right way. Something about their lyrics always hooks me too, despite the fact that every album has some real head-scratchers (“fat child in a push chair” comes to mind).

Mountainhead is more of a concept album than any of their others, and surprise, it’s about capitalism. Again. And I want to talk about it. So I’ve decided on building something I’m calling “Genius but just for me,” where I can annotate each lyric with my thoughts on it. I think it’s a good format for putting together some cohesive thoughts on the songs and the album as a whole.

So I’m going to be starting that in a bit. It will probably go through a few design iterations since I’m making this site from scratch, and that will be a fun project on its own (and possibly a legitimate use of HTML tables).
